ROGERSVILLE ? The Surgoinsville man caught on national TV two years ago attempting to have sex with a 13-year-old girl in Kentucky was sentenced Thursday to eight years in prison on a child porn charge stemming from materials found in his home.

Dustin McPhetridge, 28, 149 Hurd Road, who suffers from cerebral palsy, was in a wheelchair Thursday morning as he appeared in Hawkins County Circuit Court before Judge John Dugger.

Although he hadn?t been indicted as of yet, McPhetridge offered a guilty plea ?on information? to the lone count of sexual exploitation of a minor. He was brought back to Hawkins County on Monday after being served with the warrant.

He must serve 100 percent of the sentence, although it was ordered to be served concurrently with the five-year sentence McPhetridge is serving in Kentucky.

When his Kentucky sentence is completed, McPhetridge will be transferred to the Tennessee Department of Corrections.

McPhetridge was also fined $500, and as a convicted child sex predator he will be on community supervision for life.

McPhetridge made national headlines in October 2007 when, after chatting online with a person he thought was a 13-year-old girl, he drove five hours from Surgoinsville to Bowling Green, Ky., under the pretense of having sex with the girl.

Instead he was met by agents from the Kentucky Bureau of Investigation and cameras from the ?Dateline NBC: To Catch a Predator? program. He was also interviewed by show host Chris Hanson.

During that interview, McPhetridge admitted to possessing child pornography in his home. The Hawkins County Sheriff?s Office was notified, and upon conducting a search of his home on Oct. 21, 2007, deputies found CDs with more than 100 child porn images stored on them.

In Tennessee, possession of more than 100 pieces of child porn is a Class B felony (eight to 12 years), while 50 or more is a Class C felony (three to six years) and fewer than 50 is a Class D felony (two to four years). In every case, however, sentence must be served at 100 percent.

Last year, McPhetridge was sentenced to five years in prison in Kentucky after pleading guilty to traveling in interstate commerce with the intent to engage in sex with a minor.
